Latest app is not supported by the Android version on my phone.
Out of curiosity, what version do you have, and are they still operating in accordance with their published policy?
    • Your Android device must be running Android version 8.0 or newer. But we still currently support Android 7.0 for existing customers.

I'm on Android version 6.0.1 so they are operating according to their current policy.
I opened the account over 5 years ago for the sole purpose of fee-free cash withdrawals abroad so it hasn't been used much.
Most of the apps for my various current accounts no longer work but at least they notified me in advance. I hardly ever used them anyway as I prefer to use the desktop PC.

Keep in mind Marshmallow was last updated October 2017 so is 7 years out of date and security patches ended in August 2018, you can get a budget Android (avoid Go) for £100 or so with 2-3 years of security updates - far less risk
You can get 6 years of security updates with a Samsung A16 for £200, but it might be getting painfully slow after all those updates.

Samsung A16 won't work with Chase as it utilises 32 bit security. Chase needs 64 bit.

Likely other bank will head the same way in years to come

Your phone is now VERY unsecure.

You'd be well advised to get a newer model

Can you provide a link? The Samsung A16 has a 64 bit processor:

Bit the bullet and ordered the A15 4G running Android 14 (on offer at EE for £129). Only 4 years OS updates and 5 years security updates but otherwise hardly any difference to the A16.

Processor can be 64bit with a 32bit OS installed. Samsung and Motorola are infamous for doing this on their budget phones.

Google have just announced that the Pixel 6 and 7 will get another 2 years of OS updates and they can be picked up as used for next to nothing including the Pro models, so no need to buy a budget performing phone.

As people have said you shouldn't be installing banking apps on an OS that old and vulnerable.

The years of security updates are from when the phone first went on sale. The A15 is one year older.

The A16 has 4 GB of memory, which cannot all be addressed by 32 bits. Its predecessor (the A15) was Samsung's best selling phone. I would be very surprised if either phone had a 32 bit OS installed. There is budget and budget. £200 is not very budget in my view. The cheaper Samsung phones are a different matter.
The cheapest Pixel on Argos is £349 (with 4 years of security updates remaining):
A long way from next to nothing. Security updates:
"These phones, including the Pixel Fold, will get updates for five years, starting from when the device first became available on the Google Store in the US."
    A non-starter for me.

Just to update any confusion regarding compatability...
I can confirm that the Chase app does work on my £129 Samsung A15.
