RETROSPECTIVE Claim - Combined Life and Critical IIlness Protection and Income Protection

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about making a retrospective claim for the above-mentioned policy. I paid premiums between 2010 and 2023. In 2020, I became unwell and, as a result, stopped working. I never claimed anything (although I was still paying premiums) simply because I was not well enough to think straight. In 2023, due to my financial situation, I stopped paying altogether for the plan and ceased the coverage, still not having claimed anything. Only now, almost a year later, have I recovered enough to actually think—why didn’t I claim the income protection I should have claimed back then? Does anyone know if there is any chance to tackle it? I checked the Terms and Conditions, which seem vague, stating only, "You will not receive anything back when your policy ends." I would appreciate any wisdom on this topic.

Unfortunately it's like any other insurance policy - you don't get any refunds just because you don't claim, and you can't claim retrospectively. It's just the same as your house or car insurance in that respect.0

Does anyone know if there is any chance to tackle it?Potentially yes. its harder if your records are vague but until the insurer looks at them, you won't know.I checked the Terms and Conditions, which seem vague, stating only, "You will not receive anything back when your policy ends."That is unrelated. It is there as some people think they will get a lump sum at the end when its not one of those types of plan.

I'm not a fan of critical illness so in the first place I'd check the condition is actually covered and if it is if it's likely the level of severity required has been reached. Unfortunately there are many illnesses that can take you out of work that CI dont pay out on and the older the policy the less likely severity requirements are met as medicine moves on but policies stay fixed0
