Horizon / Hobbycraft - Farnborough PCN

Good morning! Urgent advice is required, please. Today is the final day to appeal. I have just returned from a weekend away and received a PCN notice for a recent visit to HobbyCraft (on the same site as Asda).
The PCN is in my husband's name, so I know that part of the appeal can start with that. However, as per the newbie instructions, my situation won't be relevant to writing to the Ads manager.
I am unfamiliar with the Farnborough area, I was visiting my dad in Frimley Park Hospital and had nipped in to gather supplies to keep him entertained for his extended stay. I followed the Satnav directions as per the postcode given on the website; this took me to what I now understand to be the Adsa carpark. Although I parked directly in front of the HobbyCraft store, I was not in their customer car park. It was dark and raining and I was a tad stressed under the circumstances and did not notice ANY signs alluding to the fact the carpark I was in would need a 50p fee. (I was in the carpark for 40 minutes, most of that spent looking for a bloody space) I have spoken to the manager there and he was unwilling to offer help or guidance as (rightfully so) he has no jurisdiction for another landowner's property.
As I didn't shop in Adsa, they are also unwilling to help.
Any advice gratefully received; I suspect I will end up paying and accepting the error of not noticing signage within an unfamiliar town, I the dark and when pouring with rain, making visibility very difficult. The short walk to the Hobbycraft store (no more than 25 meters) did not have any visible signage either.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
