Smartsave one account only

Does anyone know the exact rules regarding not having more than one account at Smartsave?
My partner has a 1 year fixed term account with them (expiring shortly and being reinvested in new one). I tried to open an account in my name. I got to the point where my details were going in and it came back with you can only have one account. So I'm presuming it's one account per address. Problem is now my partner trys to log in to her existing account and it won't log her in giving the same message you can only have one account !
I might try a different browser as it is perhaps remembering my aborted application.
