DIY Will

I am looking to create my own will without having to instruct a solicitor. Can anybody point me in the direction of free templates of a will on the internet? I've looked myself but most seem to be behind paywalls

not sure if it will suit you but you can actually buy a template will on paper from somewhere like WHSmith which you can fill out sign and get witnessed by two people who are not beneficiaries0
-
Ideally I would like an electronic template so it gives me the basic clauses but also allows me to add in some bespoke ones to deal with specific assets I own.0
-
I can't advise you on that but are you familiar with how to make those bespoke ones legally watertight? That is something you need to research too.I used to deal with probate and the diy ones took a lot longer if they were beyond basic and simple therefore more expensive. And you know you can get a free will written if you leave a small amount to charity. These charities are taken at varying times by firms that agree.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on
The only normal people you know are the ones you don’t know very well

In this thread,
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6493879/advice-before-writing-a-will
You mentioned leaving a chunk to charity. If this is still the case then your chosen charity may have a will writing service.0 -
Unless you have a very small estate with no property (going on your previous threads is not the case) you should not be DIYing a will. One of the most important documents your will ever make which could have cost your chosen beneficiaries big time if you get it wrong or it does not cover all the what if situations a solicitor will cover.
Yes this is a money saving website but spending a few hundred on a will could avoid a financial disaster for those you leave behind.2 -
although I can't recommend a free will service I can say that if you want to save money on making a will then I would recommend going to the 'Which' will website where you fill in all their questions and they produce a will which is reviewed by a solicitor before sending to you for signature0

I did not say that I would leave a chunk to charity, although I will of course consider it.
The Red Cross document is helpful as a starting point but will try the Which website for actual standard paragraphs to include in a will.0
