Yes they should. I had two Google accounts, one with a non-gmail address, and only when I'd filled up both lots of 15GB did I decide to take the plunge and upgrade one to 100GB. I was storing old pictures in Drive, and had split them, but it was becoming a headache to search both drives. Now it's all in one place, along with WhatsAppp backups, and I only have one account to worry about/remember the password for.

How much you pay for 100GB?

Why not just put on couple of external hard drives?

Because if your house is burgled/burns down you could lose it all. In the cloud (e.g. Google) it is offsite. I use it for photographs (in addition to a local backup), which are irreplaceable if lost.

I also use iDrive (nothing to do with Apple!) free to get 10GB. 100GB is $2.95pa and it has good security. Just not quite as convenient as Google One.

Always true, although I don't recall it having been increased in the last couple of years. TBH, I could cover the 100GB with other existing online storage but the convenience/integration/sharing is worth the extra ££ (as I'm sure Google's marketeers know...)
