Plumbing question about pipe replacement

I've got an open vented central heating system and I've been replacing the pipework in the loft that feeds mains water into the F&E tank. When I remove the original pipe feeding water into the tank, the pipe has a little ridge round the end of the pipe where it attaches to the tank fitting (see photos).
Can I replace this pipe with a normal copper pipe (without the little ridge) and maybe use an olive on the end of the pipe (to replace the little ridge)? Or do I need to get a replacement pipe the same as the original and where might I get a pipe like this?

Thanks for any help.

Ideally yes, use a tap/tank connector like the one you've got already. The 'ridge' compresses a fibre washer against the end of the ballvalve to give a leak-free connection. This is the equivalent to what you have, straight connectors are also available -

It's a normal 15mm 'tap connector' as S62 says.
Don't forget the fibre washer.
You can get them bent or straight.
What type of pipe and fittings are you using? You can get these connectors in plastic push-fit, copper solder, or brass compression. All will have brass nuts (matron!)1 -
You want to use something like this -> https://www.screwfix.com/p/flomasta-copper-end-feed-straight-tap-connector-22mm-x-3-4-/57405 - Also available as a compression fitting and also for 15mm pipe. You can even get Speedfit if you insist on using plastic pipe. The ballcock will have a flat flange where the pipe connects. This would be unsuitable for use with an olive. The fittings (normally) come with a fibre washer, so you don't need to buy anything else.
Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.1 -
1. That pipe looks like 15 m outside diameter, as most are. FreeBear's suggestion is for 22mm pipe.
2. If so, and you want to avoid soldering, I'd suggest Screwfix Item No. 287931 -
Thanks for all replies (and you were correct nofoollikeold, it is 15mm pipe). In the end I took the easy way out by re-using the original pipe in the photos, by cutting it farther down and re-attaching it to the new pipework.1
