Redundancy

Can anyone advise??
Back in August we at Homebase were told that Sainsbury’s were buying our store. So we have gone thru all the redundancy process, had our figures on what we are now getting, to be now
told yesterday that Homebase is in administration and that we have to apply to the government for our statutory redundancy, so basically we have been screwed over

If a buyer has pulled out and your employer goes into administration then what you have been told is correct. You might think it’s unfair, nothing you can do about it though.
A quick Google search tells me that there is a buyer for Homebase, so you might not be made redundant at all. Still early days though, whether the store you work in will remain open or not remains to be seen.0 -
Sainsbury's have bought the STORE - as in the actual building. They are going to convert it to a Sainsbury's supermarket. They never bid for or tried to buy the business, so they haven't pulled out of anything.
Homebase were going to make you redundant as there would no longer be a store there for you to work in. Now Homebase has gone into administration they can't pay your redundancy because they don't have any money. Sad for you, but nothing at all to do with any sale to Sainsburys0 -
OP will still be redundant because that particular store is closing anyway. Interesting question as to whether any buyer will pay redundancy thoughEl_Torro said:

Looks like The Range (the buyer of Homebase) is buying 70 of the 119 stores. If they’re clever they won’t buy the store that is being closed and reopened as a Sainsbury. I guess the OP will be kept informed of any developments but I doubt there’ll be anything but statutory redundancy available.FlorayG said:

But yet again - are they buying the business or the actual buildings? I suspect the latter as you can't buy part of a business. Sainsbury's have already bought the OP's store so it's not included in any deal, but anyone who buys the business may be required to pay the redundancy. If The Range have bought the buildings only then that's the end of HomebaseEl_Torro said:
