Tint replacement - payment

Options
Bought a brand new car in 2018 and had rear windows/boot tinted

Now over 6 yrs on the boot tint has failed and needs replacing. Contacted the original filter (small business) to get done and he says he'll replace it for free as it had lifetime warranty.

This is great but it doesn't really sit well with me as ts not like its failed within an unreasonable amount of time. I'm guessing that the warranty is based on people keeping a car roughly 3-5 yrs.

Would you just take the offer, offer to pay in full or just give him £50 as a gesture of thanks

I'll take his offer.Replace at no cost is to me is a no brainer.
6 Years use ,lets say you get another 6 years the car will then be 12 years old, possibly nearing end of life.
The tint is just a "plastic sheet"

The name of the site is Money Saving so no prizes for which answer the majority give.

There is nothing to stop you giving him a cash tip if you appreciate his service.

I always like to reward people who go above and beyond.  If nothing else it's good karma.

OP said "it had lifetime warranty", so he's not going above or beyond.

A cash tip and it's all his. A payment for services rendered and it goes into the P&L and HMRC take at least 20%
Really? Do HMRC know about this rule?

Brain fart moment... was thinking VAT which isn't payable on tips but is payable on services (assuming registered). Wasnt what I wrote though :(

Yes, if HMRC are mind readers and therefore know what I meant rather than what I said, they do know.
