Car Tax discount via PIP

Hello all,
I have just been awarded PIP on the standard rate for both daily living and mobility. When i looked at the gov.uk help, it says although i am not exempt as i dont get the enhanced rate, i could qualify for a 50% reduction for the standard award. My question is, can i get a partial refund for the tax i paid in June this year, or do i make a claim when the tax is due next year? I cant seem to find anything about claiming it back, so i assume its for new claims when the tax is due again. Thankyou for any help.

  • When you apply you will get the remaining months refunded so if you applied now would be Dec-May, then the new one will run from Nov-Oct.
