I think you have been very reasonable, but as you say the tradesmen seems to have personal issues making them erratic. I would not contact them again. If they want to take you up on your offer then they can contact you properly. I think if he was going to come knocking on your door in a threatening manner he would have done so by now but that is easy for me to say. I do understand your concerns.
Hopefully you might be able to scrape the plaster off the doors and smooth down some of the worst bits. Once furniture is in and pictures on walls etc it may not be very noticeable. In all honesty he does not sound like the type of guy you want to carry on taking proceedings against as far as the plastering is concerned0 -
Could you take some photos to show the worst of his work? Include close-ups, low angles, things like that.
Folk on here should be able to assess the quality, and suggest just what you 'owe' him, if anything.0 -
Littleroggy said:Thanks all. I have reported to the police as I am terrified it is going to escalate listening again to the messages I received this morning. They are coming round tomorrow to talk through options but have told me a crime has been committed through the threatening messages I have received.
Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
Thanks all. To update, the police came round this morning and even offered to call the guy and discuss, which I declined as it would only make the situation worse at this point.
At about 1am, the plasterer sent over a breakdown of his charges. Having discussed with my dad, who will lead on messaging, we are going to offer to meet the guy halfway on the 5400 he is asking for, based on the quality of work, and the fact he has already received £750 on top of the £4000 for plastering. The police said that if we do this and he continues to push and intermediate, then we need to bring them into the situation. This is around £2k less than he is asking for, and if he doesnt accept, we will use threat of trading standards and police,
I could share pictures, but really do not want to go down this route at this point. I just want this nightmare over and this guy out of my life.2 -
I'm pleased the police are taking this seriously - as threats should be.
You could post some pics without fear of being ID'd. It was just so we could hopefully try and determine the quality of work. If it needs a lot of prep by a painter/decorator, then that will obviously cost more.
But, fair do's - you understandably want the quickest resolution.
All the best.1
