Sitching to fixed energy with same supplier

Hi, I have just used the very helpful energy tool on Martin's website. It suggests that fixing my energy contract is a good move. Under my options, some show casjh-back, including the fixed option from my existing supplier. This suggests that I would receive the cash-back. I would expect,  though, that the cash-back is only for customers who switch supplier. If that's the case, I should probably go direct to my supplier rather than using the tool. Or am I missing something? Thanks!

    Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately it's unlikely that you'll qualify if you're not a new customer, regardless how you change tariff.  Read your supplier's small print to get the details.
  • There's nothing to stop you switching to your current supplier's fixed tariff to save yourself some money, but I also agree that it's unlikely you'd also be able to get cashback on top of that. The switching cashback is usually reserved for new customers when you actually change suppliers.
  • In the past I've seen cashback for switching to a fixed tariff with same supplier but there has always been exit fees on that tariff.
