Britannia Parking Poole hospital help!

Options

Hi there I wonder if someone can give me advise I am in a situation regarding a PCN

I’ll try to give you a quick summary to make it as clear as possible.

On the 5/9 I had an appointment at a clinic in Poole. I had never been to this clinic before as normally I go to one in Bournemouth where it is free to park.

I typed in the address into my satnav and I pulled into the car park at BMI Hospital it was raining and I literally tried to  reverse into straighten my car into a parking space but my car became immobilised as it ran out of oil and I couldn’t move it. It was raining and I was completely dis- orientated as I had never been to this neck of the woods before. I briefly looked around but didn’t see any signage or meters.

I was naturally stressed as actually I did know where I was meant to be and my car wouldn’t move all,  all I could think about was I didn’t want to miss my appointment.

I approached the main reception and was told I was in the wrong location and that the building was next door. It was still raining and I was running around frantically trying to find the building which I eventually found. For your information I entered the car park at 15:18 and exited at 15:58.

I managed to buy oil from a service station opposite the hospital (I don’t have the receipt but the transaction is on my Monzo statement showing location) thank goodness the car started and I left. I was rushing to get up to Heathrow as I was going out the country for work. I left the UK on the same day the 5/9/24 and returned on the 13/9/24. I then left the UK to go home to France on the 15/9/24.

I then returned to the UK on the 12/10/24 and my friend gave me a letter I opened it and it was from Britannia Parking it was dated the 30/09/24 the title was Parking Charge Notice Final Reminder charge amount £100 paid by date 10/10/24. I had missed the pay by date due to being out the country but to be honest I was quite shocked by the amount of £100 this was the first time I had heard about the charge.

I never received the first PCN as this PCN was titled Final reminder and on the letter, it stated a discount amount was offered for early repayment within the first 14 days. The back of the letter also said all appeals must be received within 28 days of our initial correspondence I had obviously missed that date as I never received the original PCN. I also noted the paid by date was the 10/10 for the Final reminder was 10/10/24 I had missed this as I returned to the UK on the 12/10/24

My job is based in the UK but I mostly reside in France I rarely stay at the address where the car is registered  and from time to time I get my post but not on a day to day basis.

I have asked a friend to open my post and I now have the charge passed onto Direct Collection Bailiffs Ltd and the charge has increased to £170. It was dated the 29/10/24 and mentions 14 days to pay but I only found out yesterday again it says I can’t appeal only if taken to court.

This has stressed me out beyond belief ! I am a low earner and simply do not have the funds. I feel the whole thing is grossly unfair. I never intended to park in the car park but couldn’t move my car.

I’m lost and don’t know what to do next I certainly do not want a CCJ.

If anyone has experienced a similar issue or any advice on my next steps would be greatly appreciated

Go to the top of the forum, looking in the announcements section for the thread with NEWBIES in it , click on it

( The signature below coupon mad ms post above told you exactly where to go for it. )

I believe that its currently the 3rd thread down from the top of the forum, above your thread

Once open, scroll down to her 4th and 5th posts, studying the acronym, the initialisms, plus the debt collectors ignore advice post too

Theyn come back to this thread of yours if you receive a Letter of Claim with 30 days notice, or a court claim pack from the CNBC in Northampton using MCOL

Meanwhile, familiarise yourself with how to use a forum as a valuable research source

Thanks so basically from your advice what I understand is:
Ignore the threats for the moment unless I receive a Letter of Claim with 30 days notice or a court claim pack from the CNBC in Northampton using MCOL?
I will try to familiarise myself with the forum quite challenging being dyslexic !!
