How to see my NS&I account number AND sort code ???

Options
Hello. I have a direct saver account and simply want to give my friend the account number and sort code so they can pay me. But I can only see the account number in the my 'details' section. Does anyone know how I see the sort code and account number for my account so I can print screen it?  :)

(the AI chatbot thing doesn't have a clue what I'm on about >:) ).

You use the account details specified in the link above and put your direct savings account number as the reference.

You don't have a sort code and account number for your Direct Saver, rather you need to pay into a pooled account and quote your account number in the reference
You might notice that your account number is 9 digits and not 8 so wouldn't work anyway
See Direct Saver in the link
    • Top up by bank transfer/standing order

Here are the details you need to give to your bank. Make sure you give your Direct Saver account number as the reference.

      Reference:
      Your Direct Saver account number
      Payee name:
      NS&I Direct Saver
      Sort code:
      08 31 35
      Account number:
      11994808
      Type of account:
      Business
  • This seems very risky for large amounts of money: in that if one digit is wrong in the NS&I reference then the money goes to the wrong account. Whereas in a normal bank account you need to get the name, account number and sort code right before the transfer is successful.

    Or am I misunderstanding?

Have you got another account with a unique sort code / account number you can give your friend? You could transfer the money into NS&I from that once it lands
  • E.g. if I was being paid 20k for a car, is it best to do this straight into a NS&I (using the single account number as above) or best to send to my current account then transfer it the NS&I myself (carefully) ?

    Thanks very much

Have you paid into your Direct Saver from your current account before ? If so, I would do this via your current account because it'll presumably already be a known account and therefore in your list of previously-approved payees, making mistakes pretty-much impossible. That said, your friend will still have to get the current account details right, of course !

Alternatively, if NS&I have embraced CoP, then your friend may get confirmation that the NS&I details are correct if they were to pay the account direct. I don't know if they have yet, though.
  • thanks all, i will use current account then transfer myself
