NCD not pulling through on comparison sites and quotes jumping up as a result

I’ve only got 3 years NCD as I recently had an at fault accident. So I’ve tried to be on the ball with sorting my insurance. I put that I have 3 years NCD into the comparison site, but then when I click through onto the quote it’s defaulted to 9 years, then when I change it my quote goes up. I’ve now tried 4 comparison sites, clicking through on 3-5 quotes and the same thing is happening. It’s driving me mad! Has anyone ever had this? Please help!

Have you had the renewal notice from your current insurer yet?
  • Yes, got that through yesterday the same day I went onto the comparison sites, do you think that has something to do with it? I’ve also now tried clearing cookies, trying different wifis, browsers and even emails!

There is now an NCD database, but not all insurers use it. It came into existence after I stopped dealing with Motor so dont know exactly how it functions or how often it gets updated but was speculating that if you have done the quotes before your insurers have updated the DB to indicate your drop to 3 years at renewal that some may be overriding what you've entered by the higher value in the DB.

If it was days before the above would potentially be credible, if it was days after it wouldn't be, assuming the renewal was by email (rather than post) its somewhere between the two as a possible explanation.

We've had many here who've had the problem that they bought at a higher discount than they had but that was ultimately proven to be a user error and they'd logged into their account and reused the details from the prior year and forgotten to update the NCD whereas other factors (eg how many years have you had a licence) had auto incremented by 1 year
