I have received an email from Resolver , that indicates my car would qualify for joining a joint dieselgate claim, however I am loath to hand over information to an organisation I know nothing about.
It states at the bottom of their web page that they are owned by Fountain Finances Limited, who are a claims management company

Chase that ambulance!
Did you buy your car after the US VW emission scandal hit the headlines in September 2015?
Yes? Then you bought it in full awareness of "dieselgate", so have nothing to claim for.
If you bought it before that, then - assuming it's one of the VW models also sold in the US - did you take it for the recall?
If you've had it since before 2015, and it's not one of the affected VW models, then what do you think your actual loss is?3 -
This can't be in relation to VW as VW entered into a settlement agreement some time back.
Could be in relation to other makes in which case surely the correct question is did you buy the car on the basis of the published emissions data and knowing the true figures, would you have decided not to buy the vehicle or buy it but at a lower price?1 -
Ignore all this. The issue is that most of this stuff has been settled and you are late to the party. What make of car is it?

Did you request something? Does it have the actual cars details in it?
Because that just sounds like junk mail.1 -

All of the allegations are around "defeat devices" - alternative mappings that produce higher NOx emissions. Apart from them not being barred in European testing, nobody ever bought a car based on the NOx figures.1
