Triton T801 electric shower not working

My old Triton T80i just stopped working. There is power to the isolating switch but no light on the shower nor water. I found an old post on the forum which mentioned a 'solenoid' or 'water inlet filter' as likely cause.
Can I investigate these in the unit, how do I do this and what should I look for?
If this fails, should I call a plumber or an electrician?
Thanks for any tips.

Check the isolation switch first as you have no light on the shower. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

The isolation switch is showing red when in the On position.0

I've been reading the original user guide and it says to switch off the isolating switch if no water flows. So I've done that now.0

Been temporarily fooled by that in the past. Just because the light is on it doesn't mean the power is getting to the shower. The switch was faulty. If you don't know much about electrics you should get an electrician to check it out. If you know enough to take the cover off the switch and know what you are doing, check the switch isn't damaged (melting / overheating) or a wire not being in properly, which can also cause overheating and the wire arcing / burning / insulation melting.Earthlypowers wrote: »The isolation switch is showing red when in the On position.A house isn't a home without a cat.
Those are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others.
I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.

Thanks for the tip.
Unfortunately, the isolating switch is inside a cupboard (above door) outside the bathroom and hard to get at. I will see if I can take a look in daylight!0
