One thing I didn't realize - I had always assumed that James Shack is an IFA, but looking at his website and the website of Nova, it looks like they are FA and not IFA?  I don't think that invalidates his videos in any way, but if it's the case I guess it means that if you hire Nova as an financial advisers (at 0.95% from the website), you may not be getting independent all of market investments.

It's possible I'm wrong there, but I don't see the word independent anywhere in hist website or the Nova site.
That's a good point & I have no idea, but I'm pretty sure that he often talks about investments being broad low cost global, which sounds like good general advice for people who don't want an eclectic selection of funky funds 🤷‍♂️

His videos are not pushing specific recommendations on where to invest....
    Plan for tomorrow, enjoy today!

Its a general rule of thumb for those that are regulated that they do not recommend providers whether they are FA or IFA.   Generic information on a non-advised basis is how it should be.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.

I watch a few YouTubers on retirement and James Shack is my favourite by a good bit.
  • Don't forget George at Principles Personal Finance, he has some good down to Earth videos, and one I also follow. Link: https://www.youtube.com/@PrinciplesPersonalFinance

    Very good videos....
They do however tend to focus more on larger pension funds and investments...
Like many on here, I follow most of the advisors already mentioned
Good mention here, a previous poster mentions a few good sources and I also enjoy them.

I probably follow on YouTube maybe 15 or so of these channels, I probably watch 6 or 7 most keenly and indeed George does very good outputs and very easy to understand, plus a nice style makes it nice to watch and learn.

  • Some more I forgot to mention:

Rob Berger - American but goes into plenty of detail about the bucket strategy vs 60/40 style asset allocation.
AJ Bell Investcentre - lots of good technical detail and about pensions, inheritance and taxation
