Specified Adult Childcare credits

I am 3 years short of NI contributions to get my full State Pension. After speaking to a very helpful lady at Future Pensions I was advised that I could make up these years by using the Specified Adult Childcare credits system rather than paying for them myself. I look after my grandchildren on a regular basis now as they have just moved next door to me. I have spoken to my daughter about this but we are unsure about how the system works. If I claim these credits for the next 3 years does that mean that she will lose 3 years of her NI contributions towards her pension?

Yes, my daughter has always worked, paid NI and gets Child Benefit. Her NI record says that she has got credits. I have looked at the guidance notes already but it doesn't seem to explain, if she gives these to me, whether she loses a year of NI payments or is she giving me the spare credits that she gets through claiming child benefit that would pay her NI if she was not working?0

She would be giving you the CB credits that she did not need as she paid NI through her job.
HMRC will check that she does not need them before they transfer them.2
