  • When we were looking we viewed a few places where the photos were taken using a fairly extreme wide angle - in each case we walked in and were instantly disappointed by how small the rooms felt - in one case I didn't even really want to bother going upstairs as we already knew it wasn't going to be right for us. Frankly we just ended up a bit hacked off that we'd wasted our time.  Just make your photos honest - it's not like people aren't going to see the true state of the place when they view!

We had no issue viewing places that were unfurnished either - made it far easier to see where our own bits and bobs would fit, and also to know that there weren't bookcases hiding holes in the walls or anything like that!
A family member is currently househunting, and one common theme seems to be that often the photo of the driveway/front garden/space,  has been taken from the side with a very wide angled lens ( not so much the rooms) .

Omg I hated this when I was looking. And also taking it at such an angle you couldn't see the angle of the driveway. I drove past a few potentials to discount them right away because it didn't look as big as the photos showed or the driveway was on a massive slope. Wastes peoples time!

For me, anything shorter than a 90mm lens is "wide angle", but then I'm usually shooting with a 5x4 (sometimes bigger).
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.
  • 35mm is generally viewed as the "standard" focal length I think - with anything outside that being either a zoom or a wide - it used to be 50mm didn't it, but of course digital cameras with cropped sensors have messed things up a bit there!

As for the distortion on the front view of properties - completely agree that this is really irritating, We took a look at several properties before contacting agents because while it looked as though the front was a size to get a car onto, we weren't convinced - surprise surprise, neither were!
