Hi
I've recently purchase a Mercedes E-Class 17 plate, already I have a steering wheel Dislok, is it worth having a ghost immobiliser installed, I can't see anything under £499.99
Given the cost of a Ghost immobiliser, just curious what the alternatives are

Ghost will stop most casual thieves, but it is known how to defeat it.
Unless you have an E63 or live in an area where it would be likely to be targeted I would't bother.
If it has keyless entry on a 2017, I'd just look at making sure that the signal cannot be hijacked by ensuring you double press lock to disable it or keep the key in a faraday pouch or similar.2 -
I've been looking at the Ghost immobiliser and have heard rumours that it can be defeated. I've searched for information, but I've not found anything about how. Clearly such information is likely to only be available on the 'dark' web to criminals, but without it, I can't see that it is worth spending £500. Do you know if the installers know how it is being defeated?
If it is defeated by removing it, I'm happy to make one unremovable by welding a Tenmat Ferosafe plate over it.The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.1 -
Thanks for your replies and advice.0

Any mainstream security is easy to defeat if thieves are stealing your car to order.A disklok can be picked open in seconds if you have the tool, which you can probably get from the same source as the signal relay box.Since most people rely on a disklok now it would be a no-brainer to carry the tool to defeat it if you are going car stealing. If I had £500 to spend on security, and I didn't need a ghost for the insurance, I'd put it towards a couple of posts for the drive.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

They can then work on the car later.Life in the slow lane0
