Heating system upgrade

Hi,

Currently our oil heating system doesn’t heat hot water and central heating separately and we’ve had a quote for electrics and plumbing of 2100 to allow this, along with Nest installed. We’re based in Northern Ireland.

Does this seem reasonable?

Thanks

What does the quote actually specify?

What are the other two or three quotes coming in at?

Replacing a vented gravity circulation HW tank with a new unvented and controls would be a different price to a couple of diverter valves plus a bit of pipes and the controls.  Former might be cheap, latter might be expensive.

We can't see the site and such so anything is pure guesswork.
  • Yes my initial post was a bit vague.

Ive asked for a breakdown as this was just a quote in person. I’ve only had 1 quote so far and he did put a bit of pressure to make a deduction in the next 7 days as prices of materials can change, which is fair enough but put me off. I’ve tried to get others to come round but nobody ever gets back to you - been trying for several weeks now.

I only have one zone at the minute and I can’t heat the CH and HW separately, so it was to run a feed from the boiler to the HW cylinder and then to sort all of the electrics. In addition we would also have a Nest system installed.

To upgrade to an unvented cylinder would be another 1800 + VAT so we won’t be doing this for now.

Thanks for this - after a few days to think about it this is definitely expensive so glad to hear we’re not alone in thinking this. Trying to get another guy out to quote - will see how long this one takes…
