Fibre optic contractors damaged my car

Options
Hi  im having an issue with a contractor who were working in our street laying fibre cable.  The road bends slightly as as they pulled the cable through the guy walked along the road (past our car) and with the bend he ended up dragging the cable down the side of the whole car and over the front wing. the worker apologised after we approached him and took pictures advised he had let office know etc etc.  this was a month ago  we are now in a position where they have contested the damage sending videos saying their cable can't of caused the damage advised us to go through their insurance and when we have asked for their details of insurance they haven't supplied it but are insisting we give them our car insurance details is this right or should their public liability pick this up?  oh did i mention we have the whole thing on CCTV.

the 'easiest' way is to pass all the information to your car insurers make a claim and let them chase the public liability company.

if they provide the liability insurance you can attempt to deal with them directly.

playing devils advocate - does the cable show the damage

Yes let the company know your name, car details and the name of your insurance company.  Talk to your insurance company and explain the situation.  Your insurance company should cover your car getting repaired and they will try to recover costs from the third party.  Offer your CCTV evidence to the insurance company as it will help their case.
