Tesco credit card 0% ending email

 Hi

I’ve received an email this morning to say my 0% interest offer comes to end in 2 months (11/01/25) when it should be November 2026 as I took out the 28 month 0% card in April this year.

I owe quite a bit on it and am now freaking out as I can’t pay interest the balance I have alongside other commitments I have.

I don’t know if it’s to do with the Barclays take over but I’ve found a doc Tesco sent that says T&C’s and interest promotional rates won’t change under Barclays. I’m hoping it’s an error. Has anyone else had this email?

Or any advice? I plan to call Tesco and hope it’s an error as it’s really worrying me.

thank you

Erin

Just contact them, it is likely either a communication error or a data entry error when things have moved over. The original agreement still applies.
  • Have you checked the original agreement that you signed?  Not all applicants always get the full advertised promotional deals.
Things like the advertised "representative" APR only have to be offered to 51% of successful applicants, others may receive a less favourable rate based on their credit history and data contained in their file.
Likewise with 0% deals - they're only obliged to offer the full 28 months to 51% of successful applicants, it's not unheard of for some applicants to be offered a shorter promotional period.  But the particular deal you were offered will be clearly stated in your offer/acceptance documentation.
If you were indeed offered the full 28 months then yes, contact them to ask for an explanation.

As above you should check your original agreement or I think you will have to speak to them as I can't see the details on mine in the app or statement. The current offer says all accepted get 28 months but a previous offer could have been "up to" and some people got less.

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

  • Check your statements. It should have the expiry date of any promotional rates on it.
If that concurs with what you believe to be the case, it's likely an error on the email. If not, check the original documentation in case you didn't realise at the time you were being offered a shorter period than you thought.

Only at 2 months before promo end with Tesco, another thing the useless regulator has failed on.

  • Whilst the current balance transfer may be a fixed 28 months, a previous offer would have appeared to include "up to"....

Of more note though, is the current offer for money transfers appears to match the 9 months mentioned in this case.

Which promotion did you go for, OP?

Hope you sort it out favourably 🤞
