Remmie my lost post yesterday was nothing exciting, just my usual burble about nowt in particular!
TA you must be so proud of your granddaughter, how talented she is, congratulations to her for doing so well.
Derek, those clothes sound lovely, I'm sure someone out there will be able to restore them.
Coxy, moving house is so stressful, it gives me the shivers to contemplate moving from here, we've got too much stuff like most people.
Not much happening today, flu jab this morning for both of us, then Dh is going to have his ears microsuctioned this afternoon, then it's the quiz tonight.
Hope everyone has a good day, take care folks.

Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. Blimey it was a cold start for us this morning. My phone said it was 2 deg at 6.00 a.m. and not to get above 10 deg by mid-day despite the sunshine.. It seems our mild spell has ended.
Being Tuesday it's a will it or won't it be a lunch meet with DF. As usual dependent on her DH and which side of bed he rolls out of. He has now decided the medication he is on isn't doing him any good so he has stopped it all. She was going to try and get a telephone appointment with the GP to discuss it but that is easier said than done these days.
If lunch is off I might have a short trip out to try and resume my Xmas gift shopping. Or I might not as enthusiasm is in short supply.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad or lonely. COXY I hope the move goes smoothly, it's a stressful time. I'd love to move somewhere smaller and easier to follow but I too have far too much stuff I wouldn't know what to do with. Take care all, stay safe xx

Morning allYes, a chilly one this morning. Don't think I'll hang my washing out on the line today as it won't dry in this cold weather. On the airer it will go.We've considered a move to a bungalow for a while now but the amount of stamp duty added to estate agent fees etc would take too big a chunk out of our savings so that won't happen. How I would have loved a smaller flat garden instead of our graduated one. Things could be alot worse so can't complain.Hope everyone has a good day x12

Morning all
Brrrr very cold here this morning we had the heating on for a while yesterday evening as the house felt damp and cold I will probably put it on for an hour this morning before my people come, all being well I should have three today they would like to go for a walk on a local beach which is beautiful and there is a cafe at the end which is handy for a cuppa to warm up.
DD is on a late shift so just OH and I here for dinner might do something quick with chips, I also need to write a shopping list for tomorrow too.
Derek those clothing items are stunning I hope someone will be able to restore them or maybe a museum or similar would like them xx
Have good days all and take care xx11 -
Morning folks, thanks for the start @Scarlet. @TA- same here. At 5.00a.m. this morning it was 1 degree, the sky was dark and clear with a host of stars out twinkling away. Now there's thick grey low-lying cloud (probably sea fret), it's a mighty 2 degrees and I can't even see the field I live in.The class yesterday was tough. I missed two Mondays whilst gallivanting in Glasgow for shows and I felt it. Lifting the two 3kg dumbbells above my head was challenging this week and the resistance bands seemed to resist more.
I'd laid out my lunch ready to zap when I got home, the soup was ready in minutes and the egg mayo especially welcome.
I have fickle plans for today, the only fixture is an AGM tonight. The dark winter nights don't make me keen to go out, there's no street lights for eight miles and I hate the new modern car headlights which dazzle when coming towards me. Hey ho..I'm just a bit pathetic in winter.I send out hugs and good vibes to all, especially @Coxy for her house move. In for Christmas is good.11 -
Good morning all, a bright start to the day but very chilly. Yesterday's sun put in an appearance for a short time, but it stayed cold.
Last night's stew used up one of the tins of soup, it was very tasty. I also made a crumble which used up the last of the foraged apples. Not sure what to have tonight.
Must go, big dog needs to go out, take care all x11 -
Morning from a chilly Mehefinland.
YAY the sun has just peeped out from the gloom. Perhaps not such a bad day after all!
A minor but important update on the dress( see last night's pictures) is that I have found an old photo of it being worn as a wedding dress by MIL. Although it had sleeves at that point it is certainly the same garment albeit much altered. I know she was married in 1952 but I suspect this item has been repurposed several times. The seamstress friend of my neighbour says it is handmade but that the stitching is extremely fine and she wasn't sure if it was machine or hand stitched. The investigation continues. Unfortunately there is nobody left from the family who might know.
The crucial part for my Rayburn has been despatched so hopefully I can get someone to fit it before too long and the house will be much warmer.
I keep prevaricating about putting a rug on Scooby as she is an old lady now and looking a bit thin. Then yesterday when I brought her in she was sweating profusely in the sun. This weird weather is playing havoc with her rhythms and she has grown quite a thick coat, and is too warm. You can't win!!
Going to have some trees and hedging removed as 1/ they have died and are waving about in the breeze, and 2/ it the ubiquitous leylandii and its just getting to big for me to manage on my own. The chap is coming back next Monday to cut and remove the lot. I can then proceed with my plan for a spring garden in the front to replace the one lot of trees.
Hugs and spoons as always

Morning! Yes, very cold, the fire was roaring last night, I know when it's really cold because my ears are like icicles. I have the opticians today and then the allotment, it's compost making time, where I'll start chopping all the ivy and raspberry canes up. Not particularly strenuou work today, plus I get to go and get myself a new rake and watering can. Everything is very slowly coming together, the kitchen is now in and the worktop people will be here next week to make a template or something, Then once that is in, the old one can be taken out and that room can be done...Not so important though [ to me anyway] it's the washing machine and tumble drier
I still have the lingering cold and rattly chest which is most annoying. Two weeks later I'm stil sneezing and blowing my nose..
Mehefin, hold off taking it to the dry cleaners until you've heard back from the sewing people. Wow Gers, that's quite strenuous! I feel the same about car headlights, its really annoying. TA, if it'll make your life easier, then I'd say do it. You have such a big family you can tell them you want to and let them sort most of the stuff outWell done your dgd too! Coxy, fingers crossed for a smooth move! snoozer, you have all my sympathies, I hope you can have some more improvement before then! Izzy, they take after their granny I expect
Take care all, fingers crossed for less brrr for you all!

Morning everyone
Cold but dry here, so I'll put my washing out for some air...I'll be home not long after 3pm so can bring it in before it gets damp again.
Little one managed to stay at school all day yesterday...for the first time since last July...she had been shattered last night, but at least she managed it. They had walked down to the village war memorial for 11am, with one of the teachers playing her bagpipes.
DD reached her target of £500 for the ward they were on during the summer and has now raised another £150 which she's spent on toys to be used for Christmas presents on the ward. She's also collecting toys and books for them too, so will be going down with a very full car soon.
I'd best get moving or it will be time to go to work.
Hope everyone has a good day x

Morning all,
Thanks for the good wishes for our move. More packing last night. DH is poorly – I think it’s Covid but will he go get a test – nope! He was asleep all afternoon and missed collecting me from work so I got the bus home, then he went for a bath and sat feeling sorry for himself whilst I packed the sideboard and lounge ornaments. Much tongue-biting going on!!
Hopefully today he will be packing up the garage and also sourcing some wine boxes from somewhere as none of our SMs seem to have boxes at the back of the checkouts anymore? He’s going to try one of the wine merchants as the removals firm wanted £12.99 plus VAT for one box!
The photos of the garments are lovely @mehefin – I do hope you can find a good home for them.
Hope you get to go out @TravellingAbuela – the situation with your friends’ DH is worrying and I can empathise as DH’s mental health hasn’t been great these past few months. He is very spiky over the silliest of things. Hoping the move and our (semi) retirement will be a tonic.
Great fundraising for the ward @dp1 I’m sure they will be very grateful x
Dinner tonight is SC pulled pork, brioche rolls and coleslaw which is perfect for this chilly weather. I’m having lunch with a friend today – he’s our estate agent and doesn’t drink so this is a thank you for selling our place for us.
Have a good day all whatever you’re up to.
Coxy
