Website builder / hosting at a reasonable cost

I have a couple of small websites, one is for my art business but I have just had the renewal and the cost has gone up to 145.00 with One.com - I have 5 pages and its mainly showing my artwork etc..

In the past they have reduced the cost when I have complained but this time seem unwilling to do so -with that can anyone recommend a decent website builder that would suit images and possibly also have a shop added at a later date.

Cost needs to be competitive but its hard going wading through all the different sites.

Any recommendations appreciated.

I pay less than half that with 50webs and can host 10 domains with unlimited traffic.

Not looked for a while as the cost is at the figure where I don't bother looking elsewhere.

If you are just looking for hosting (designing and maintaining the Web pages yourself) then you can get a better deal.

But if you are looking for a package of design, maintain and host then £145 is not far away for a simple website.

Totally agree with PHK, it depends on your site situation. If you never update it and don't have some difficult disign, you could even host it somewhere like GoogleSites and pau only for domain name, that you could hook to GoogleSite. Or you could find some reliable hosting, install CMS of your choice there and transfer everything to that hosting. If your site on some standard CMS, new hosting will do it for free. One thing to remember, after promotion prices the renewal will be at higher cost...

I switched my hosting recently to Mythic Beasts, I'm paying £30 a year for as many domains as I want, email, I forget how much hosting space. It can have Wordpress installed if you want to use that to build a site - as I already have the sites created I just copied the files across so I'm not really up to date on the various site builders that they might offer.

After the TSO hosts being transferred to 123reg/GoDaddy I transferred to Mythic Beasts too. So far no issues and their domain renewal prices are much less than many others. Also they are a privately owned UK based company.

Reading back my comment above, I should clarify that when I say "as many domains as I want" that is for hosting them, not registering them. Each domain costs separately to register, either at MB or elsewhere. As @alanjuk points out, though, domain registration and renewal is much cheaper there too.

I have noticed a UK company startsup and give excellent customer service then they get bought out and the service tends
to suffer. Then you need to find another startup and hope they know what they are doing and will not sell out for a few
    years.

  • Consider opting for WordPress hosting, which eliminates the restrictions and high costs often associated with proprietary website builders, giving you the flexibility to manage your website independently. If you're looking for reliable managed hosting with WordPress or an easy-to-use website builder, Webhost UK is an excellent choice, offering competitive pricing and exceptional customer support.
