The problem is the OP didnt pay for their washing machine with the credit card but paid off a loan with a credit card hence why its been treated as a cash like transaction. It however isn't down to Creation alone, their Merchant Services provider is the one that sets the MCC based on the business of their client and its the MCC that the card issuer uses to decide if it counts as a cash like transaction or not. Some businesses have multiple MCC for different parts (eg Thomas Cook has one for the booking of holidays and another for FX) however one transaction can only have one MCC. Note the MCC also drives the fees the merchant pays
It would be impossible for Creation to say that it will be charged as a cash advance because that would require them to know the T&Cs of every card issuer in the world. Even in the UK my AmEx card has a fee for a cash withdrawal but has no concept of "cash like" transactions.0
