A quick update:
Garden
All my squashes are in the ground, being fed and watered by nature's sunshine! All my containers are planted up and watered in (I am one short as the pot rim fell off after the frost-proof pot proved it really wasn't! - I'm going for a coffee with a friend tomorrow and will remedy that then
Bees
Two colonies gifted to new owner and two more packed up and in their new kit, ready to be collected this evening. I just need to revisit them and collect my boxes later this morning. That will remove my bees from the site where the wedding is taking place next year. I am also giving away a young queen in a nucleus, that I prepared for transport at about 7pm, last evening, before the rain.
Rain, yes, at last we have some. I am hopeful as two of my sites have field beans in flower and the moisture will help
Money
I shall shop properly today - my big once a month shop as it is raining this morning. Both Sainsbugs and Morries. My Bee purchases have been fully reimbursed, allowing me to transfer funds to DS as his birthday gift - some spending money for his Scotland trip to see my Mum.
Mum hasn't met his partner before and both of them are looking forward to it. Before that visit, she has my cousins, whose Mum died at Christmas (aged 101) visiting her this coming weekend - it's all go and my Sis is helping.
Oh and my start of month finance check and I have won two premium bond prizes - a £25 and… a £1000 - wow! never before! And… it is my month for two state pension payments. I need a new cambelt for the motorhome when it is serviced and MOT'd and Mr Sl's bike needs an MOT this week so there is no chance of feeling flush!
Have a good day all!

Fab on the PB win! My Grandma once had a £1000 prize from PBs but I've never heard of anyone else in my social orbit winning one. Grandma then won £100 shortly after that, followed by £500 a few months later then never won another PB prize ever.
2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!2 -
I've never won that big before, but I hold over £30k so I do win regularly. Well over 5% last year. I won £300 (3x£100) one month in 2025

Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

So, Friday morning and here I am, waiting for Mr Sl to stir. We are due to leave in 30 minutes to take his bike in (a 30 minute drive) for its service and MOT.
That reminds me - the motorhome also needs the same (plus a replacement cam belt. I shall be back when I have booked that in…

Right, it is raining; time for a bit of life-admin!
- Motorhome is booked in, but the insurance has yet to be accepted and paid.
- Mr Sl's main bike is MOT'd, serviced and needs one new tyre to be ready for his road trip next week.
- Fortunately the truck is running well.
- As I think my car needs the alloy wheels to be sent away to be refurbished. Not a vanity thing. The tyre seals are not perfect and they keep having to be pumped up.
- Bees are under control (ish) - coming to the end of the mid-season gap, we are dependent on good weather now.
- Mr Sl completely stressed out about a bit of admin he is doing and is overwhelmed with his trip imminent and nothing resolved. I have interfered (intervened) to make it happen, reverting to previous system for this year, to take the pressure off him.
Another person I mentored for a while is asking for some help today.
We put the washing out yesterday evening, having checked it was not going to rain for a few hours. Yeah, right. That didn't work and it is officially precipitating down and the dripping-not-drying washing is still out on the line . B*gger.
Money is departing for DD and regular things and I bought my euromillions ticket so I could buy the penthouse flat above Lords Cricket ground if we won (we haven't!). £2.50 for a bit of a dream.
At least the rain means the garden doesn't need watering!

Today:
- I must do bees (as forecast is iffy for the rest of the week).
- I have a sourdough proving
- and lots of washing, wet in the basket to put out as soon as I am dressed.
- Then bees, just an inspection, maybe a mite treatment
- change the bedding
- then take a few bits over to the teaching apiary.
Mr Sl has developed a stinking cold which I believe I have a version of, with a sore throat and dry cough yesterday. I thought it was hayfever, first thing, but we think we inadvertently bought fake antihistamines - they certainly don't work as well as our normal ones so I am writing them off and have ordered more from a regular supplier
Have a good Sunday everyone (purse remaining shut here)!

Morning@SL. I really dislike summer colds. They just sort of feel 'wrong' don't they? I associate lergies with wrapping up warm & sitting in an armchair by the stove cosseting myself with hot drinks while doing not-a-lot. Mr F had Covid early last summer, which just felt weird.
Hope you are both back to normal soon.
