Car lease cancelled after order due to "misprice"

Good afternoon all
Quick help
I placed an order for a car on lease. Credit check all done and approved. Order was sent to me and I fully completed it all.
2 days later I received a call from vantage leasing saying that it had been mispriced, even though I have the order form, and they were cancelling the order.
Do I have a case as the order was placed and accepted as well as credit search having been done and finance approved?

Thanks for any help or advice.

probably not - the cooling off period works both ways I think
  • No.

Read the Ts & Cs, and I bet errors are explicitly given as grounds for cancellation with no penalty.

How far off was the price from the correct price?

Check your paperwork but there are often get outs for issues such as a misprice.

    How big was the misprice?
  • The offer was £209. Normal price about £390 However I spoke to them about it to check it all first as didn't want a credit check done unless it was all accurate and I was assured it was.

    A case for what?

As above, you won't be able to force them to honour the erroneous price, if that's what you were hoping.

However, if you've incurred tangible expenses as a result of their mistake, then you might be able to secure some sort of goodwill gesture....

    +1 to this

there will be a get out in the contract for where its clear the price is incorrect

So you want to force them to honour a price that's only 53% of the correct price...?
  • It was more a case of having a search on the credit file.
I realise getting that much of a discount is highly unlikely to be sorted.
However, as we know, credit searches affect credit file.

As above, that's unlikely to be an issue unless your credit files are in a particularly fragile state - you could perhaps ask the lease company to 'reuse' the credit check they've already done if you're going to place a replacement order, but such processes aren't likely to have much room for discretion to be honest.
