Unexpected death & subsequent funeral costs

I've seen go fund me appeals set up for similar situations. The problem then is that you may not get enough for what you need, but would be morally committed to spend the money donated on what you raised the money for.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Many people are having direct cremation out of choice these daysI expected them to do what it said on the website. And as such my point was the OP may not be able to attend a funeral for his son at all and should be aware of that fact. That link suggests that there would be a funeral service of some sort, and I can’t see why the op couldn’t attend?“Religious or secular services
It may not be possible for us to find out if the deceased was religious or not, but we will always try to find someone to take the funeral service.”
It would be reasonable to ask for the ashes, and then, when funds permit, inter those in a small grave with headstone. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

The link does - the council refused to carry it out and had the individual directly cremated with no option of attendance.
