  • I found this thread while hunting for answers, so thanks for the hints four years later!

We had a board change last week from an ancient E7 to a new single supply - I didn't bother with E7 as the board wouldn't have fit in the space, and we're on an Agile tariff that changes every half hour. As I'd already seen this setting in the manual beforehand, I'd assumed the heater was clever enough to configure timings - apparently not!

Like the OP, I couldn't change the "Source of low tariff enabling" option after entering contractor access / maintenance mode (no matter how many times I repeatedly RTFM'd). After assuming that there must be a deeper level of access for this setting, I used ChatGPT to scour the internet for other codes and solutions and it led me here.

After reading this thread, I thought I'd need to shell out for more electrical work. However. I just got off the phone with Stiebel Eltron's technical support, and there's apparently a simple fix for this - see image that they sent me.
    1. Turn off power(!)
    2. Open case
    3. Connect the top and bottom terminals as pictured (green and blue lines) using wire
    4. Connect the L3, L2, and L1 terminals on the top terminal block to each other using wire
    5. Close case, power back on, case closed
Will try it myself this afternoon, wish me luck!
