Car door kicked in

  • There's two sides to how an incident affects your premiums in the future.

One is NCB - but if it's protected, you retain that.

The other is your history. You're asked if you've had any claims or other incidents in the last five years. If you've reported this to your insurer but not claimed, you remove the possibility of lying and denying it happened.
  • If you are not to bothered about your car then try a dent removal guy, they will come out to your home/work address and charge around £100, if the door was kicked in there is a good chance it will pop back out again especially with the right tools. Then just ring your insurance company and tell them you have paid the repairs yourself and cancel the claim.
  • OP, if you don't claim - when a future insurer asks if you've made any claims (e.g. within last 5 years) you can say no (on this incident). If you claim, you'd say yes. If they ask have you had any incidents in the last 5 years, you'd have to say Yes whether you claim or not.

I used a local paintless dent removal franchise a couple of years ago. £100 then, which he quoted after seeing some pictures, I sent, as requested.
You wouldn't know the dent had been there. I know it was there and can't see any evidence.
He didn't have to remove the inner door panel and accessed, with his tools, through a hole at the front of the door where the wiring passes though (rear door).
That was a self inflicted, quite large, dent. When checking the adjacent rear tye pressure, I slipped and head butted the door!
Thankfully the steel in modern cars is paper thin, my head survived.
