Argos Yodel Delivery despite.

Hey, So just a few days ago I ordered online A new iPhone, A case and Screen protector from Argos, Online Delivered by Yodel.

There was Two Deliveries one in the afternoon the screen protector and then late at night the phone case. When I got the second package I was kinda taken aback because I was hoping for the phone but it was clearly too light to be the phone, So next day I was expecting the phone to arrive, however, I noticed on the Argos site the next day they were saying the delivery package last night should have had two items in it the case and the phone itself.

I thought OMG, because I have never had a problem before. I contacted Argos and the guy on the phone told me he could see the case and the screen protector had been delivered, So I was like thank god, maybe this is not going to be a big deal at all. He chased it up for me and assured me the phone would be delivered by 9pm that day.

Come 9pm no delivery, however. ,

I contact Yodel and they just say to contact Argos. On the Yodel app I notice the driver has a pic, of him handing me the package with the phonecase, from the previous night. Its pretty dark and hard to make out the shape/size for the package.

So I contact Argos again today and now there story had completely changed they are trying to say the phone was in that second package with the phone case.

They claim its being looked into and will get back in touch within 7 days.

This was a Birthday gift for my son, So I regret leaving it so late, and not just going into the store to buy.  Had plenty of things delivered down the years, including some laptops etc from Argos. Never had any issues.

Any advice on where I stand on all this? A friend suggested I try to cancel the payment with the bank if that is even still possible. Not sure about that suggestion at all.

Here are the pic on the yodle app.
pic which they now claim contained the phone and case.

That photo doesn't prove anything.  I can't see the number of the property on your door and I can't make out what's on the ground.  It doesn't appear to have a parcel label.  Is it a brick?
Surely valuable items need a signature on delivery?

Right. I can't believe there was no need for a signature. I would also have thought at the very least they would have put all the items in a seperate package then it can be easily shown all three items were handed over, as there would be three pics.

Just curious, if you bought it from Argos why was it delivered by Yodel and not by Argos? Argos have their own vans

No idea, I was expecting Argos to do it, they have done other deliveries themselves. I guess maybe they just outsource a certain number of deliveries.

There's no particular reason to use one package per item, but the package weights should clarify the issue - is there a weight shown on the packaging and/or the Yodel app?

I've had deliveries from Argos that have come via Yodel, I wonder if they use couriers for smaller items?

Just checked the sticker on the packages and no weight is listed. Nor does anywhere on the app list the weight.

My nephew drives an Argos delivery van. He says he delivers items which are in stock locally. Items not in stock locally are delivered by courier from an Argos warehouse or directly from the manufacturer.

He said Argos use various methods to try to detect and reduce fraud with expensive items but he would not elaborate what they are. I don't think he actually knows what those methods are.
