in Techie Stuff
Hi
I'm helping someone with admin and she wants me to create shared access on her pc. The purpose of this is so that I can access her files and work from home/remotely on occassions. I only help her two hours per week and I'm not very techy!
I don't have a clue how this is done, neither does she. We both have one-drive but again, neither of us know how to use it.
When I use my own lap top, I tend to save everything to my hard drive, but sometimes when I'm looking/searching for a file, my lap top wants to look on one-drive. I guess I must on occassions accidentally be saving stuff here.
I'd be grateful if someone can help me understand what I'm doing wrong and how to set up this remote access?
Many thanks
Holly

How much of space do you require?
If you already have OneDrive, it is a lot easier than setting up a shared folder on a PC.
Let us know what OneDrive subscription you have (a business one does make it easier)1 -
Agree. My husband use OneDrive at work. And he works a lot from home. And they have a lot of people who access those files. Very convenient. The only problem - and I don't know whether it's him or the settings - that sometime our personal files like photos automatically are saved to One Drive...0

In OneDrive settings in your Windows (or MacOS), you can exclude certain folders (like photos) for syncing to OneDrive.0 -

How did your husband import the photos? Was it via an application and automatically goes into a folder?
In OneDrive settings in your Windows (or MacOS), you can exclude certain folders (like photos) for syncing to OneDrive.
2. When you work with image (my husband is making some for the documents they do&edit with his coworkers), when you save the same way as normal, you just choose the folder in OneDrive, they will appear in "save tab".
3. import - please explain what kind of import do you mean. You don't import with OneDrive, you just work the way as if it is external drive. If you mean extra device, you just copy from device to OneDrive folder, like if it is on you computer.
4. Syncing. Sorry, won't be able to help with this one. Not sure if My HB know about such an option, I personally find it very inconvenient, because you're ending up with bunch of unnecessary copies, and when deleting, you might delete either too many or not enough. And with editing the same document, I'm not sure how it works, whether it's convenient or not. Anyway, we always have sync off.1
