Had to lift carpet, how can I relay it without creases.

Had to lift carpet as some floorboards are creaking to get HA staff to check the carpet was a bit sticky in places for one I think the installers used spray adhesive in the areas that aren't tacked but got it up ok apart from a few small tears under carpet but relaying it I tried just rolling it down and it looks creased, haven't attached to the tack yet as the repair isn't until Friday but want to relay carpet without it being full of creases also wanted to know best way to relay it so its straight if anyone could give advice, thanks.

carpet fitters normally use a knee kicker to stretch it as it goes onto the grippers so you could buy one or borrow one for this small job.
Alternatively just wear trainers with grip and try kicking it to stretch it.

I lifted my carpet, installed insulation under the suspended wooden floor, and relayed the carpet  quickly and easily with a knee kicker. No creases!
  • I've lifted and re-laid carpets a few times and never noticed an issue with creases that I recall. Is this a particularly thin carpet? What's the backing like - is it coarse woven hessian-type stuff ('action back') or something else like felt or foam rubber?

Sorry late response as was on holiday,

The hallway carpet which is basically a square relaid fine, and the living room carpet doesn't look bad either it's the piece in the corner of bedroom due to it's shape, I can actually pull it with my shoes but can't get it to stay flat.

I did buy a knee kicker and it did a little but not much.

It is thin carpet and has no underlay not sure type but the corners basically frayed in the areas by the door.

The backing of the carpet looks like fluff, part of it did come off as the carpet layers used spray adhesive originally and then connected it to the tack strips on edges.
