Hi,

Does any bank allow cash credits to credit card account via branch counter.

I think HSBC does but not 100% sure.

Thanks

I would have thought you could pay in at any branch counter so long as you have a paying in slip

I checked my most recent statement from FD and there is no paying-in slp as part of the statement.
Also there were no details on the statement on how to pay using cash i.e. account number and sort code for the receiving account.
You might be better off asking which card statements have a paying-in slip?
Or you could pay the cash into a current account and transfer from there?

I would have thought that any bank that allows paying in cash to an account other than your own is being rather free and easy as regards money laundering regulations.

Perhaps the OP would like to tell us why they want to do this?

Halifax certainly used to, I sometimes paid off my Clarity card with cash at their branch counter. There was also a method using a machine, with an envelope, far from simple and I think it was discontinued.
I can't imagine why such cash payment to your own credit card account wouldn't still be possible when the occasion arises, with Halifax or for that matter any bank.

    Evolution, not revolution

Natwest permit 'over the counter' payment albeit they may ask where the cash has come from and want some proof of origin if paying a large amount of cash.
I thought they would need the paying in slip off the statement, but instead I just had to put the card in the chip & pin machine on the counter and enter the PIN.
  • It's a long time since I've paid money via a bank branch into an account except our own.
Presumably as long as you have the key details that should be possible ?
Sort code + bank account number + reference .............the latter is your 16 digit credit card number.
Give your credit card issuer a call - they can advise.
  • You were able to pay credit cards with cash if you had an account with the bank - however nowadays they may well ask you to pay the cash into your account and then make a faster payment to the credit card.

For most people this would not present anybody with any problems unless you were in excess of an overdraft agreement meaning if you paid cash into your account you may not then have sufficient funds to pay the card.

As in to use cash to pay off your credit card statement? It's been a few years since I have done it but I presume it is still an option, I know HSBC you can pay the HSBC credit card off in their branch using the slip on the statement.
