Refused Credit

Hello, my partner who normally has a excellent credit score, has been going into her overdraft over the last few months. Will this damage her credit rating? She applied for a Argos card but was declined, will this be the reason why?
Thanks

The number doesn’t matter. What is relevant is her credit history and affordability. If she is regularly using her overdraft, this is going to show and will impact on other lenders decisions.

Without knowing her circumstances, maybe she needs to look at the reason that she’s dipping into her overdraft and address that instead of taking on more credit?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • I have to agree with the previous poster about addressing the reasons for needing the overdraft.
But yes, regularly using an overdraft is usually viewed pretty negatively by most lenders.  It's not the only factor, of course, but it's certainly a fairly large red flag.
(And, as pointed out previously, ignore the meaningless score).

Persistent use of an overdraft facility indicates that she cannot manage her day to day spending.  It will be seen as a negative by lenders.
