Remember, remember the fifth of November, gunpowder treason and plot.
The community fireworks and bonfire happened last Saturday so I'm not expecting any noise tonight.
The bus trip back yesterday was so lovely, there was hardly any traffic heading north so we had a clear smooth run. Family all back in their respective nests too. My niece told us that after she goes back to Oz she's going to go travelling with her boyfriend after a short stay in Japan. It makes me quite jealous and think back to my own travels. Now I'm mostly loathe to leave my chair in front of the fireplace. 😂
Once I'm out of my pit I'll change the bed linen and get the WM on. I need to do a very quick trip into town and that's me done. There's soup defrosting for lunch and some cooked chicken for a sandwich. The missing Monday banking will be tackled too. Nothing exciting!I hope that building work, gardening work, household work and returning families all goes well. Hugs to poorlies.

Morning allGlad you enjoyed your family weekend Gers and the travel went smoothly. It's looking quite misty and still outside. Weather has been so cloudy and DH hasn't even been able to use his birthday telescope yet but I suppose you must expect it this time of year!Just been sitting here waiting for my supermarket online Christmas slot to open so that's been saved now.On the menu today is gingerbread men. They freeze so well and I'll decorate them nearer Christmastime.Have a good day all x11

Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers, glad you enjoyed your trip and the travel back was smooth.
It's dry for now, yesterday it drizzled all day and didn't really get light at all, hoping for better today.
Nothing much going on here, it's taking me a while to come round this morning as I had a good nights sleep!
Hope you are all well, take care. XX12 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. I'm glad you enjoyed your w/e meet up with family. I know what you mean about missing your travels but preferring your fireside! Once of a day trip planning was almost my hobby and we lived from one holiday to the next. Hence my username! Now a bus ride to the next town is almost an adventure!!
And talking of bus rides I had bad news yesterday from my bus buddy. She fell over her threshold at the w/e and has a fracture of the pelvic bone. She said she has never known such pain. It's going to be a long recovery process I think. Meanwhile she is still in hospital and, as we know, recovery takes much longer in old age.
Today lunch with my DF is penciled in but, as usual, I await confirmation of his mood when her DH gets out of bed. Such an unpredictable man and she is at a standstill with a diagnosis of his problem. Since the brain scan revealed nothing he seems to have been written off by the medics.
It's been very quiet round here considering the time of year. Once over there were fireworks going off for weeks before the 5th. Maybe tonight will bring a bit more noise. I feel for you with frightened animals. When we had the Border Collies the elder one turned into a shivering wreck at the slightest bang, whilst the younger one looked at her, oblivious to the noise, wondering what was wrong. It was pitiful to see her like that.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad or lonely and, of course, the terrified pets. Take care all, stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Morning all
Its quite damp and misty here with no rain due and maybe a bit of sun later, I have three guests coming today so will see what they fancy doing, I know one of them said a walk around the shops so will see if they still fancy that and maybe a look at the Mars exhibit if it’s still on, otherwise maybe a beach walk and then a coffee in the cafe afterwards I will see what they fancy.
Dinner tonight will be scampi and chips nice and simple dd is on a course today so will be here for dinner, I need to have a tidy before my people come.
I hope there are not too many fireworks tonight and hopefully that will be the end of it for this year, poor pups can’t stand it.
Have good days all and take care xx10 -
Good morning all, a dull start again here.
Yesterday turned out to be very unexpected. OH decided to tackle HIS shed (yes his, nothing of mine in there), full of just in case things. On opening the door he disturbed a wasps nest and got stung half a dozen times before he could shut it again. So today will be spent sourcing someone to come and sort it out. He was feeling very sorry for himself last night.
Anyways, I bulked the curry out with veg last night (sorry if I don't sound sympathetic, I've been saying it needed clearing for ages as he kept complaining he couldn't find things) so have enough chicken left for a small pie tonight. I like to set myself these challenges every now and then to make cooking more interesting. And yes, I do make stock from the bones, and big dog gets the skin and bits.
Off now to make a cuppa before bd wants to go out. Have a good day everyone x
PS hope little ones day back at school went well dp1 x10 -
Morning all, hope you are all well. Glad you enjoyed your trip Gers.TA, oh no your poor bus buddy, that sounds nasty. We went up to our friends at the weekend to see how she's doing with her broken arm & she's feeling very frustrated as she's used to being busy. She doesn't really read or anything like that but I took her some magazines. We picked DGS up early for football training and went back to our house for a bit until DS got home. His other Grandma had been at their house minding the 3 of them and was surprised to see me, no-one had told her we were picking him up. He spent some time testing the paint pens as they haven't been used for ages, and we threw some away but the rest he'll take to DS2s to join his new box which are finer.I made 2 big tubs of beef bourguignon for the freezer, the leftover roast beef, and some leftover curry joined them. I'll have to be careful or there won't be room for Xmas stocks at this rateI didn't post yesterday, this page & FB kept crashing for some reason.Scarlet- I managed to make 1 CCard yesterday. My cousin told me she's done over 60 up to now! My stuff is still out and DH is out most of the day so I might get a few more done, but the price of stamps now means I need to edit my list I thinkHugs from me to you, take care.

Morning all.
Dull here again but mild, which is good, as we're going out to recce a walk that I'm leading on New Year's Day. It's only about 3 miles but I want to check the route and the timings then we can have a pub lunch in the village afterwards.
Yesterday's video call with Sydney went well and dSiL has now emailed me her proposed flight dates for next year. We had the window cleaner visit after that plus I managed to finish the ironing before heading off to do childcare for DD. No more apples put out in the village I drive through but I'm not complaining as I have a couple of large tubs of cooked apples in the freezer from there plus a bag of raw, sliced apples.
@RosyRed: I'm also culling my Christmas card list this year, due to the price of stamps, so must get round to sorting that.
Hope everyone's day goes well.10 -
Morning everyone
Yesterday was chilly and damp and it looks like being much the same today. I didn't wake until after 9 this morning - one afternoon back at work and I feel shattered already !
Little one was just at school until after her lunch yesterday, she had said she was tired out and they rang DD to pick her up. Then she hadn't eaten her tea, had diarrhoea and had been trying to be sick. I've just had a message from DD saying she's had a really good sleep and feels a lot better this morning but she's just going to keep her at home as she has a dietician's appointment later and was going to miss this afternoon anyways.
She has an appointment for her endoscopy early in December.
Right I have the litter tray to sort as it's bin day today and a pile of ironing to get done.
Hope everyone has a good day today x

Hi everyone,
The family is back today but not until about 9 pm. They are flying into Gatwick which is a pain for us to get to, especially at rush hour. There is a direct train but Esben has school tomorrow so Laura wants him to sleep in the car. Steve will go down this afternoon, have a meal and mooch around till the flight arrives and then bring her and the children back while Brian gets the train because there won't be room for him.
Meanwhile I'll be cooking up a storm, including a birthday cake for Esben tomorrow.
Have a good day.9
