Best travel SIM card

Options
Hi all,
I'm going to Egypt in 2 weeks and cape Verde in January.
My current network provider Lebara wants £15-20 to add on roaming.
Is there any travel Sims that we might be able to get to cover us whilst we are away please

Kind regards mark

  • That’s not a bad deal to be fair.  How much data does that include?   Neither of those destinations are particularly cheap to buy travel sims (or esims) for.

If you’re only using data (& not voice or text) you halve that with an Airalo esim - but if you use more than a few GB of data it’ll add to the same as you were quoted - and be less convenient.

Don't bother with getting a sim for Cape Verde. Reception is ropey, well it was on Sal, all the hotels are WiFied to the hilt anyway.

My missus got an eSim for her phone for the brief occasions we left the hotel and it was near useless.

They don't have 5G yet either.

Do you need full voice call and SMS capability or only data? Do your phones accept eSIM?

To be honest with you I'm not sure. What options were you going to recommend please

not too bad a price, I think we paid £15 each for 2 weeks roaming in Greece in July with our provider.  I’m considering Saily for an eSIM for our upcoming trip to Asia, I think I can get 20Gb over 30 days for about $18

If you go on the Saily website you can put in your phone model and see if eSIM works.

We’re with giffgaff and usually on PAYG in UK as we mostly use WiFi. When travelling I buy a one off bundle, usually £10 for 15GB which includes 5GB roaming in Europe. In 3 weeks in Greece in September I didn’t use anywhere near that. Next time £8 bundle 5GB will be plenty. And they last a month.

Lebara is £15 for 500mb for 8 days or £20 for 1gb for 15 days so guff gaff sounds much better

My suggestions would depend on your requirements and handset capability, as I asked, such as eSIM and/or local WiFi...

eSIM worked very well for us, cost £10 for 30 days with Breeze. Also used easySIM but the deal I did seems to have gone so it's slightly more expensive
