Hello

Car insurance was coming to and end and switched to another insurance provider. Chose not to protect NCB of 2 years. First payment of monthly direct debit taken then and there with actual cover starting about 26 days later.
Once documents relating to policy came through, I noted cover with 2 years NCB and them asking for proof. I said l had not opted to protect NCB and that current insurer would issue 1 year NCB proof post contract and did not have access to insurer stuff before this as was insured via the now defunct pay per mile by RAC.
Policy document updated with updated price-DOUBLE ORIGINAL PRICE! This was 2 days before cover start date and me emailing numerous times for updates.
They are texting, emailing various times per day saying to pay or add new price to direct debit (which I have cancelled).
They say I need to phone to cancel and pay a cancellation fee!
So they’ve taken payment on day I ordered cover and now want cancellation fee if I phone.
I want my money back and for them to leave me alone.
What can l do? Please help.

 Thanks 🙏🏻

Angela

Just because you didn't protect the NCD doesn't mean you don't have it. Can you provide this? If not it looks you gave a false statement when setting the insurance up.

Have you got any insurance in place?

I believe the cancellation fee is applicable in this case. Paying this would be far more preferable than having the insurance cancelled by the insurance company (you'd then struggle to get any car insurance)
  • Thanks so muck for getting back to me.
I do have the proof and have emailed it over to them but they keep sending me emails saying NCB 0.

    Your post is confusing.

You say you told them you have 2 years NCD but decided you did not want to pay to protect it.
You then say that your current insurer gave you proof of 1 years NCD
You then say you have provided the new insurer of proof of 2 years but they are claiming you have 0 years.

What exactly did you provide as proof of your 2 years NCD to the new insurer. Was this the renewal letter from your current insurer?
  • I have provided insurer I am in conflict with with proof of NCD from last insurer which was 1 year. Yes, the one I am in conflict with are still saying NCD as 0. Aa I explained to the insurer I had do put a claim in October 2022 when catalytic converters was stolen so October 2023-October 2024 was no claims.

What did your October 2024 renewal letter say you had as far as NCD goes.

It sounds like you only have 1 years no claims if the claim was prior to your last years policy being taken out.

Again, what did you use to provide the insurer you are in conflict with as proof of no claims?
  • Yes I am aware I have 1 year NCD. I provided them with headed letter from insurance company with all my details stating I had 1 year NCD.

Why are they saying they do not accept your proof of NCD?

Did you tell them you only had 1 year when getting the quote as your original post says you claimed 2 years. Is the confusion that they are expecting proof of 2 years and you have only provided 1?
