Unfinished bathroom woes

I have a small bathroom 2x2m at most. Needed retiling and all bathroom fixtures fitted. Work started right away knowing that at the beginning we will be fitted in between jobs. Estimate 2-3 weeks. We are now on the week 6 due to various personal issues the tradesman has. I am willing to bear with it as bathroom fixtures are in albeit incomplete tiling so still a lot of hassle. I have lost confidence as to when this job will be finished and wanted to hold out on the 3rd and 4th payments until everything is done (around 1.5k). Reason is if he bails out now, hiring another to finish the job will probably cost us as much if not more than 1.5k. Am I being unreasonable? I intend to pay the 4th payment 1 week after completion to do snagging.

I think you're supposed to agree it between you.No one here can tell you what's acceptable between you. We're can't tell you if they're the sort of people that will waltz off a job if their customer gets sniffy. This is what contracts are for, even if they have a long deadline on. I'm taking a wild guess that there is no contract?A bathroom done properly is a two week job without it being worked around other commitments.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
