Attendance Allowance claim

I have submitted the long form to try and claim attendance allowance for my mother. I recall it is one of the most under claimed benefits and I can see why!
Does anyone have recent experience of the turnaround times, successful or otherwise?

Thank you

I help with a lot of these forms through my job. Current time to receive a decision letter is 7-8 weeks. I don't really feel it's underclaimed but then I do probably 30+ of these forms a month so my views may be skewed !

For what it is worth....my mum received a letter after a week of submission, saying she will hear within 12 weeks.
  • Update...my mum qualified for the lower level.

I would encourage anyone with elderly parents (who will probably have some underlying medical needs) to claim for this benefit.
The form is horrible and it may only £72.65 a week but almost as much pension as my she gets.
Her issue was macular degeneration and took 6 weeks to come through.

TBF she doesn't need the money but sounded very happy to get it come through, plus it makes getting a blue badge easier for anyone driving her.

My 90 yr mum has MD also, is very hard of hearing. I thought about making a claim for her but she 'manages' most of the time. It would be lovely to get her this benefit, plus a blue badge would be ideal for when I, or one of her 'still driving' friends go out with her, I read that it is more beneficial to get approval for the BB prior to applying for AA?

She should qualify. The form is horrible and can’t recall if it asked if she had a blue badge. I can see why that may help support the claim.
Best advice is to get her prescription list and other supporting info. I just said she couldn’t read anymore and needed the help of my dad.

The AA award will not automatically qualify her for a BB because there's no mobility part. Of course this doesn't mean she can't still apply for the BB and send evidence to support her claim.

Hi, just an update.  I did an online application for AA on 20th December,  the application was very quick & easy to complete. Unfortunately,  mum received a letter today advising that she does not qualify
