Hi,
I signed up for a 6 month Now tv sports package by mistake as I thought it included Discovery.
I need to cancel it immediately is there a cooling off period?

I don't believe so, no.
You can appeal to their good nature but basically the T&Cs are that you are signed up for a minimum of 6 months even if you cancelled straight away (and after that it wil lauto-renew and go up to a higher price unless you have cancelled).0 -
OP, did you sign up to a deal that lasts 6 months, or a 6 month deal? The two are different. If they said they'd give you Sports for £20 a month for 6 months, then if you cancel straight away, you'd just pay for 1 month. If they offered you sports for 6 months for £120, then you might not get it back as you've already started the pass and may have to do as above.0

I'm assuming from the OP's description that it was a '6-month saver' deal
SPORTS
6-Month Saver
£29.99 £26
a month. 6-month minimum term.
Saving based on fully flexible price.Save when you join for longer
Watch all 12 live Sky Sports channels
Stream even more of the action with Sky Sports+
Ads included on live sports and channels.

Yes it was the 6 months for £20/month.0

Might be a bit late as you posted this 2 weeks ago, but they can't hold you to 6 months.
Now is classed as a streaming service, so the maximum they can hold you to is 30 days.
If you contact them and ask them to cancel, you should just be charged for the first month.
(They are aware of these rules, they just choose not to mention them on their website - read into that what you will!)0 -

I have heard people mention this on another forum too, but then a different poster challenged them to find an official link, and no one did.
I have searched for a statement myself, and not been able to find one.
So my working theory is that this is an urban myth / mis-understanding of the new rights under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024.
I would be happy to be proven wrong.0 -

I would be happy to be proven wrong. In the OP’s position I would definitely contact them and ask; if only because they seem happy to do it for others. I’ll see if I can find the relevant threads on the other forum and I’ll add another post if there’s anything official that they found.1 -

Some of the users on another forum have definitely had success by contacting Now and asking to cancel - and the same for Sky Stream. In the OP’s position I would definitely contact them and ask; if only because they seem happy to do it for others. I did find an unofficial result here https://www.lewissilkin.com/en/insights/our-guide-digital-markets-competition-consumers-bill-focusing-consumer-law which links to a document https://www.lewissilkin.com/api/download/downloadattachment?id=036deb70-5fc7-4c93-9e62-0bf52de7397b that contains the text:The Act was finalised during the wash-up preceding the 2024 General Election and received Royal Assent in May 2024. The new government has announced that the rules on enforcement and unfair trading will come into force in 2025, and the subscriptions rules in the spring of 2026 “at the earliest”.
So maybe next year or early 2026 the new "subscriptions rules" will be clarified.
