Asda sells service tills

Hi. I visited Asda 2 weeks ago. I attempted to pay for my shopping (£5.50) at a self service till. I scanned the shopping, and paid by card. The card machine said transaction approved. I then noticed that the till had gone back to the prepayment screen. I mentioned it to a member of staff. They didn't seem to know what had happened, despite fiddling with the machine for several minutes. They were adamant that the payment had not gone through, even though I was notified by NatWest that I had just spent the money in their store. They would not let me take my shopping. They now have my £5.50. I have no receipt and no shopping. So far they have offered me a £6 e voucher. I do not live near an Asda. I have told them that I want my money returned to me. So far.... Nothing.

Speak to Natwest about a chargeback for the £5.50. You clearly have correspondence from Asda confirming the error, so I think Natwest will simply do a chargeback.Abitcross said:Hi. Has the £5.50 defo now been finalised? Could still be pending and may drop off. Saying that 2 weeks would be a long time to finalise.2

It has been finalised. The amount of effort I'm having to go to to get a few quid back is ridiculous NatWest ask you to liaise with the vendor first, but they seem really unhelpful.0

It's a mistake over a relatively small sum of money that will take a bit of administrative effort to resolve. It's irritating and shouldn't have happened but what effort are you putting in, beyond making a few calls? If it's that much bother and your time's valuable, write it off.Abitcross said:It has been finalised. I going to guess this is either a contactless or PIN payment.Aylesbury_Duck said:

As such no non receipt chargeback.
Given a £6 voucher Op best taking it & either spending it when passing a Asda, or passing to someone who does.Life in the slow lane1 -
So, after being offered a £6 e voucher I told them I wanted my money returned to me and they had 7 days or I would take it further (planned to get NatWest involved). They came back with a £10 e voucher which I accepted. I just wanted to be heard. They took my money and dismissed me.2
