going abroad whilst claiming PIP

Hi all,
I know that your allowed to go abroad for upto 13 weeks whilst claiming PIP but I wanted to know what periods of the year that those 13 weeks are counted?
For example is it counted January to December or would it be the financial year start and end dates?
Any help or advice would be most appreciated
Kind regards mark

I thought the 13 week rule was for 13 consecutive weeks If you were going away for longer period, not odd weeks dotted throughout the year. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.2 -
Don't see why time of year would be relevant unless someone was thinking they could be abroad for longer. E.g. they had 12 weeks abroad until end of December. Then thought the time period started again from 1st January and so they stayed abroad for much longer.
I think it is just a 13 week time limit rule, so a claimant cannot be absent for more than 13 weeks. There may be exception for medical treatment not available in UK.
Others who are more familiar with PIP legislation will no doubt reply later. I am just responding to how the question has been phrased. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.1 -
I think the 13 weeks relates to continuous period... time of year, what year seem irrelevant.
