I'd guess that a good old Golden Virginia tobacco tin would be better than some of these so call Faraday pouches and card holdersI got a small toffee tin, and soldered some flexible wire from the lid to the tin. Put my car key/dongle in it and closed the lid, stood next to the car and touched the doorhandle and infuriatingly it unlocked just the same as if the key/dongle had been in my hand.No gaps in the tin whatsoever, seamless tin and the lid is electrically connected to the tin.So I'm reliant on the Disklok for security, and you can pick them in a few seconds if you have the tool- if you make your living stealing cars you'd surely have the picking tool for the most popular deterrent.....I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Aren’t the vast majority of car keys active devices rather than RFID?0

I think they do have a backup RFID component that you touch to the marked sensor on the car when the key battery is dead.Either way they use radio waves that should be blocked by a fully enclosed conducting box/bag."ordinary" dumb chipped keys are a variant of RFID as there is no battery.Later I'll try earthing my toffee tin, in case my keyless key/dongle is simply coupling to the tin as an external aerial.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

It explains why with my car, if the fob battery dies then the car can be started by placing the fob on the start button for a couple of seconds.Move along, nothing to see.0 -

I never carry cards around with me0
