Is this genuine? Motor insurers bureau
Just got a letter from the Motor insurers bureau telling me i have 28 days to SORN my motorcycle to avoid a fine.
I have no problem with SORNing it but is it true that you can be fined for having no insurance on a vehicle that is not being used?
For clarity i have 2, 40 plus year old motorcycles that this year i had changed to historic status so they are tax and MOT exempt, both are being restored and have not been on the road for over 15 years. Do i have to SORN them until the day i insure them?

A vehicle must either be SORN or insured.

It's been the law since 2011.1

Continuous Insurance Enforcement came in in 2011 to introduce the requirement that every vehicle is insured or SORNed, created a new fix penalty of £100 or up to £1,000 in court for those identified via DB comparison -v- the more serious offence of driving without insurance.Krakkkers said:Just got a letter from the Motor insurers bureau telling me i have 28 days to SORN my motorcycle to avoid a fine.
