Samsung phone not able to make/receive calls

Hi, my phone was working fine, until the battery died and it turned off. I put it on charge but it's now not able to make/receive phone calls. I tried restarting it several times with but it's still not working.
Text messages are working, mobile data is working, just the calls. When someone calls, it rings at the caller's end and after a while goes to voice mail.
The Samsung phone does not ring or show any notification of the incoming call and no missed call displayed in log. When I try to call, it's just stuck on 'calling' and then the call turns off without connecting. The call does not go through to the other phone at all. It shows in the log as outgoing call on the Samsung. It's on Smarty network and it's got plenty off minutes/data left.
Please advise how to make it work. Thank you!

Have you tried somewhere else with a stronger mobile signal?
If your phone is set for calls over WiFi, could it be trying to use that and failing?

I don't use WiFi calling. Signal is strong (5G).

Can't see why the battery dying (or turning the phone off) would cause a network issue.

Borrow and swap in a SIM from another network to see if it's the network or the phone that's the problem.

What model of Samsung is it?

I don't what caused the issue, but it's working now. It did not work for about 10 hours and then just started working again.
  • Probably Possibly a network issue that just happened to coincide with the battery running out.
