Another What should I do.

I have been trying to buy a car warning triangle on ebay for some time now. They only cost £10 from halfords, but in good moneysaving spirit I thought I could save a few quid on ebay.

My first purchase was for £5.94, and I paid soon after the auction ended. 3 days later the seller emailed with a paypal invoice for £3.66 saying they had miscalculated the postage and to pay this extra.

They had only charged £1.95 postage on the item, so they probably did undercharge. As I am a reasonable sort of person I asked them to either proceed at the original amount, or refund me. They choose the latter option. I have not left any feedback yet, and don't plan too. Should I?

The second warning triangle I purchased was for a £1 plus £3.50 postage, which I again paid on the day the auction ended.

Auction closed on 24 May. I emailed chasing delivery on Thursday 2 June and was assured it had been posted at the begining of that week. I emailed again on 10 June and again was assured it had been posted, and asked if I had paid for postal insurance. I responded by saying that the item was to be posted by standard parcel service, which includes £30 of insurance cover or the only other alternative was first class which includes £28 of insurance cover.

No response from the seller. So on Tuedsday 14 June I filed a claim with Paypal.

15 June warning triangle arrives. It was posted on 13 June at a cost of £5.

So the seller lost money on the deal again, but the difference for me in this case it that they lied to me about posting the item, and would have been happy to keep my money had I not challenge them about it. ( I'm pretty certain the item they sent me is the one I bought and not a replacement, as it was a second hand warning triangle from specific car and the one I got matches the orginal description, also they have nmot contacted me to say they were posting a replacement.)

They have left me positive feedback, as I paid promptly. I think a negative is in order, but should I / can I also report them to ebay.
if i had known then what i know now

I'd be inclined not to leave any feedback for the first item, afterall the transaction didn't take place by mutual agreement. On the second item I think a neutral might be applicable, as you did receive the item as described, but quote the slow delivery time.
Reporting him to ebay would be a fruitless exercise:- he sent the item, lost money on postage and left you a positive.

I would leave a neg on the first item as you won the auction fairly to buy the triangle at that price and that postage. If the seller offered it at a lower postage than cost, then that is their responsibility.

I would leave a positive on the second item as although the seller might have been fobbing you off first time, they did post it to you at a loss and leave pos feedback for you...i'd do something along the lines of positive but "item as described so positive, delivery slow though"
