VRBO problem

We drove 300 miles to Wales last week only for our VRBO accommodation to be unavailable when we arrived. Apparently the owner doesn't rent it out any more and VRBO were told.  They refunded us but at 6pm last Thursday the family and dog literally had nowhere to stay. Luckily we found an Airbnb that would take us that night, but it cost a fair bit more.

VRBO won't compensate as their package doesn't kick in unless you book through their website, Expedia or get a hotel. VRBO and Expedia don't allow late bookings and no hotels would take a family with a dog.

I want compensation but am getting nowhere. To go to the Small Claims Court I need an address for VRBO in England or Wales. I can't find one. Can anyone help please?

I don’t think they have a UK address.

  • Thank you!  I think there is literally nothing that I can do.  I have put reviews on Trustpilot and social media but it seems like there is no comeback available for VRBO.  So basically they can get away with leaving us stranded 300 miles from home and then forced to spend 1/3 more on accommodation than previously planned.  The umbrella sites need regulating.

Hello David, I am a lawyer and I have recently been screwed over by them. I am going to bring a claim. I am happy to help you. If you would like?

Out of interest, in which jurisdiction are you planning to take them to court.
